summerlunch+ feature in The Globe and Mail

summerlunch+ is proud to be recognized in The Globe and Mail through RBC’s Sustainability & Impact series, which highlights organizations working to strengthen communities across Canada. RBC Foundation’s contribution, together with the support of many other valued donors, played an important role in making summer 2025 a milestone season for us.

As Susan Wright, our Founder and Managing Director, shared in the feature: “Summerlunch+ is celebrating our tenth season by expanding to ten sites across Ontario. Thanks to the RBC Foundation, this growth is possible and necessary given the soaring price of food and the growing rates of food insecurity across the country. RBC will be sponsoring four of the ten new communities, reaching children and their families with weekly cooking classes and free meal kits that reduce barriers to access. We are so thrilled to meet the rising need and could not do it without this support.

This recognition speaks to the power of collective support. With grocery prices continuing to rise, donations are vital in providing communities with the skills and confidence to prepare healthier meals. The growing demand for our programs also reflects the need for consistent investment in summer food initiatives. Many children benefit from school lunch programs during the academic year, but these supports end once school is out. Ensuring that children are nourished during the summer months is essential for their health, learning, and overall well-being.

We are grateful to the RBC Foundation and all of our supporters who make this work possible, and we remain committed to growing great kids together.
